The story above was published in March, 2017 in a book, “Reflections: Stories From Local Writers,” sponsored by The Ferguson Library, Stamford, Connecticut.
Jean Bankowski DeVito is a writer currently working on a memoir about childhood struggles with her parents’ divorce in 1970, to adulthood and a fight in a contest of an uncle’s will, where she represents her elderly mother in the justice system. She decides that one person’s life is not more deserving of enrichment, by money or love, than any other. The importance of reporting suspected cases is revealed in this trinity of child abuse, domestic violence, and elder financial abuse.
